Pico Technology is supporting the industry’s Automotive Technician Accreditation (ATA) scheme, which is governed by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI).
Launched in 2005, the ATA is a voluntary scheme designed to clearly recognise technical competence, raise the professional status and credibility of skilled individuals, provide a benchmark for technician recruitment and career development, and significantly improve consumer confidence in the retail motor sector. Successful individuals are issued with a unique photo identity card, valid for five years, and are listed on a public on-line register on www.automotivetechnician.org.uk
Dave Hewson, Business Development Manager at Pico Technology, says, “Pico is delighted to be supporting the ATA initiative, a clearly defined standard and code of conduct, which is governed by the IMI, that will raise the profile of the industry. It will offer peace of mind to customers and provide them with additional confidence in the credentials of their automotive technicians.”
Pico’s multi-award-winning Automotive Diagnostics Oscilloscope Kit is recognised as an essential product for ATA registered technicians. The ATA centres, which already have the kits, recommend them as a key product for complete, efficient diagnostics.
Stuart Brooks, Head of Public Relations at The Institute of the Motor Industry, comments “The speed at which our industry is evolving and the demands of customers have highlighted the importance of demonstrating current competence, underpinned by an individual’s commitment to an ethical code of conduct. The Automotive Technician Accreditation scheme has generated significant momentum across the industry and the IMI is delighted that Pico is actively supporting the initiative within its own market. This reinforces the importance it places on improving and recognising skills and raising consumer confidence in the sector.”
The Pico Automotive Diagnostic Oscilloscope Kit helps to diagnose and solve engine faults quicker, speeding up workflow through the workshop and boosting profits. This market-leading kit comes with all that is needed to effectively test almost all the electronic signals and electrical sensors on a modern vehicle. Used with a scan tool, it increases first-time fixes and reduces unnecessary replacement of good parts.
